Care That Counts -
Altrus offers many different models of care tailored to our clients
Community Living Options
Through Altrus and its subcontractors, we have approximately 300 homes including family and group model throughout the state of Georgia. We are dedicated to ensuring that adults with disabilities are able to live a normal and full life in the least restrictive living environment of their choice. Several residential models are available. Our residential care homes offer placement in licensed personal care homes owned and operated by Altrus from 11 to 24 beds.
The family model option offers placement in licensed personal care homes with six or fewer beds in a very home-like residential model.
In 2009 Altrus is approved by Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) to provide Community Residential Alternative (CRA) Services in a Host Home/Life Sharing model. In this model, individuals with developmental disabilities are able to live and share life experiences with supportive people who form a caring family and household. This option provides a highly desired alternative to hospital or residential group placement and is based on the importance of enduring and permanent relationships as the foundation for learning life skills, developing self esteem, and learning to exist interdependently with others. You can find more details about this home model by clicking here.
The community living arrangment is usually in a smaller setting, such as an apartment with fewer people living together in a community setting. The number of people living in an apartment or home varies with each location and staffing is based on individual needs. Staff is present at all times except with individuals who have unsupervised time. The individuals have access to a variety of options and are assisted when participating in leisure and recreational trips to: the beach, museums, sporting events, skating, or for more active folks, horseback riding. Individuals are encouraged to visit their family’s homes whenever possible and to maintain close relationships which enhance and nurture their quality of life. A wide range of therapeutic services for individuals, depending on their needs are coordinated. These services may include but are not limited to: nursing, behavioral supports, occupational and speech/adaptive communication.
Furthermore, we provide consulting services for personal care homes and community based nursing assessments by contract.
