Typically, these homes are located in residential neighborhoods throughout Georgia. They are licensed and regulated by Healthcare Facility Regulation as with larger facilities and nursing homes. The goal of a Family Personal Care Home is to most closely approximate being at home. The small group of “residents” become a family and act accordingly.

 

Homeproviders, who are contracted and own and operate these small homes, often live in the home and have typically been caregivers for many years. All homeproviders are fingerprinted and record checked and Altrus does extensive screening on each candidate beyond that provided by licensure.  Altrus subcontracts with approximately 300 homes throughout Georgia and this number continues to grow.

 

Our registered nurses supervise care with routine visits to each home. They review all medications, service records, menus, and document progress notes on each individual. This combination of custodial care and nursing oversight results in a home setting where people can improve and thrive. This ultimately is our goal.

We are able to connect people with the options available through Community Care Services Program, the SOURCE program, the ICWP program and other pay sources.
