Preface: This story was submitted by the son of a former resident at our residential care home, Tebeau House in Waycross, Georgia.
Phyllis Duncan, administrator of Tebeau House recently found out one of her residents, Glenda Tuten, had a serious health condition. In conversation with her family members, one of the staff, Brenda Inman, overheard Glenda saying she had always wanted to go to Hawaii. This was on Glenda's bucket list. Unable to take Glenda to Hawaii, Brenda and the staff of Tebeau House decided to bring Hawaii to Glenda.
On Saturday, March 28, Glenda had all of the Hawaiian excitement, without the flight. She experienced Hawaiian food, grass skirts, Hawaii music, Hula dancing and lots of fun, laughter and joy with family and friends. Anyone who know Glenda know how she loves to laugh, which she did a lot of and how she loves people, so she had a very exciting and happy day. Ms. Opal Tuten, Glenda's mother, and all of her family give thanks to the wonderful people of Tebeau House who provided the celebration.

Sadly, we lost Glenda on May 16th. She met her illness with grace and poise. As we celebrate people like Glenda, who loves everyone, let us celebrate the wonderful people who serve us and celebrate life with us. May we celebrate those, like Phyllis and her staff at Tebeau House, who celebrate life and show it by their actions.
